The Federal Government has now released the National COVID-19 Safe Workplace Principles to facilitate Employers returning their employees back to their workplaces.

There are 10 Principles which will apply to Employers and employees and are designed to assist in preparing workplaces to resume normal operations as the Government restrictions start to be lifted.

It will be critical for Employers to ensure their workplaces are ready for what the new 'normal' will look like post COVID-19, with social distancing and exemplary hygiene measures being part of that. These will need to be properly factored in when reopening workplaces.

The risk of COVID-19 will no doubt still remain for some time to come, so Employers and employees will also need to ensure that they continue to be ready to respond to any cases of COVID-19 in their workplaces, and ensure they are dealt with effectively and efficiently, and consistent with the advice from the relevant health authorities.

The Principles can be accessed here. The links to each of the relevant State and Territory Work Health and Safety Regulators can be accessed here.

Safe Work Australia has also revamped its website and contains some useful tools Employers can access on how to minimise the risk of exposure of COVID-19 in your workplace and a practical resource kit as well, which can be accessed here.
